Homeopathy

Homeopathy (also spelled homoeopathy) is the system of remedies that is based on the belief that like cures like, instead of "combating" illnesses with harsh drugs that can be detrimental to our bodies.  So, for instance, if a skin rash is similar to that of a rash caused by poison ivy, you would take homeopathic poison ivy.

Homeopathic remedies are made by extracting plant material, minerals (or sometimes even bacteria or other organisms), diluting it in water and alcohol, shaking it vigorously, and then diluting it again up to hundreds of thousands of times.  By the end of the process, sometimes there is no trace of the original extracted material in the dilution.

Honestly, there is still no conclusive answer to why homeopathy works, but it usually is effective if the appropriate remedy is given.  The remedies are extremely specific, so one "headache remedy" will not actually work for every headache. It depends on where the headache is, what it was caused by, when it hurts most, etc.

I have personally seen homeopathics clear up acne and eczema, stop chronic yeast infections, heal a skin rash within days that antihistamines couldn't touch, and drastically reduce panic attacks.
